Jockey Club “Look For Green” Mobile Recycling Programme (“Look For Green”) is a 2-year environmental project operated by Christian Family Service Centre (CFSC) Environmental Protection and Green Living (EPGL) and funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. Through Green Advertising Truck services and Second-hand Charity Sales events, “Look For Green” serves the East Kowloon community (Tseung Kwan O, Sai Kung, Wong Tai Sin and Kowloon City regions) and brings “Reduce”, “Reuse”, “Recycle” – “3R” elements straight into real estates and communities by its 3 core services: “Categorized Recycling”, “Community Sharing of Reusables” and “Green Education”.
Leverage on the advantages of high mobility and couple with its all-in-one features, the Look For Green Advertising Truck fulfills its mission hinted in the slogan “Green? Just down the stairs!”. Not only that recycling is made more convenient for residents, we wish participants could gain awareness and green knowledge through a happy and interesting experience, and be inspired to live a green lifestyle, join the green community and together increase the livability of our city.
Christian Family Service Centre (CFSC) was established in 1954 by Miss Muriel Boone, a United Presbyterian missionary, to help Mandarin speaking refugees. Material aid, financial support and guidance in finding jobs were provided to needy families. The Agency was first located in 221 Sai Yee Street Mongkok and moved to 3 Tsui Ping Road, Kwun Tong in 1965. In the early years, it was necessary to depend on gifts from churches overseas to finance the programme. However, the Hong Kong Government and The Community Chest have started to provide financial support as well since 1969. Over the years, the Agency’s work gradually extended and it has now developed into a multi-service agency, with the mission to support and enhance family functioning and to foster an environment for growth and change. We provide multi-services including: Children & Family Services, Youth Services, Elderly Care Services, Services for People with Disabilities, Mental Health Services, Active Ageing Services, Medical & Health Services, Opportunities & Inclusion for People with Disabilities, Environmental Protection & Green Living, Community Development Services, Whole Person Development & Professional Training, Employee Service Consultancy. Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the Government in combatting illegal gambling. It is Hong Kong’s largest single taxpayer, one of the city’s major employers, and its Charities Trust is also one of the world’s top ten charitable donors.
Working with the Government, non-governmental organizations and community partners, the Club’s Charities Trust proactively seeks out the root causes of social issues, bringing multiple and cross-sectoral parties together to address them through innovative approaches. While continuing to fund a wide range of projects, the Trust is placing special emphasis on four areas of strategic focus:
Youth – Empowering youth for a hopeful future
Elderly – Building an age-friendly Hong Kong
Sports – Promoting active participation and sportsmanship, making sports fun and accessible to all
Arts, Culture & Heritage – Building a culturally vibrant Hong Kong, enriching lives and promoting social inclusion
